How are Invisalign aligners made?

Once you decide that Invisalign is right for you, your provider captures a 3D scan of your teeth and sends it to the Invisalign lab. The lab creates your custom aligners and returns them to WestCare Dental. You come in for an appointment to learn how to place the aligners and pick up a set that will last for several weeks.

You may periodically come back to WestCare Dental to ensure the aligners are moving your teeth appropriately. Your provider also checks your adherence to the right wear schedule.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign is barely noticeable as the aligners are clear and fit right over your teeth. Invisalign also offers other advantages, especially compared to metal braces. These include:

• No dietary restrictions: You take the trays out to eat and drink
• Fewer emergency visits: There are no brackets or wires that can break
• Easy hygiene: You remove the trays to brush and floss
• Comfortable wear: The aligners cause minimal rubbing or friction
• Fewer checkups: You only see the doctor once every six to eight weeks

How long do I have to wear Invisalign?

Your treatment plan is customized to you. Some plans last just one year, while other patients must commit to wearing Invisalign for up to two years. 

Plan on wearing the aligners 20 to 22 hours each day, even while you sleep. The good news is that Invisalign aligners are comfortable and not noticeable.
